Clever News Briefing

About

Clever News Briefing is an English-language publication about reading news with curiosity and care. It is for readers who want to understand how headlines, sources, evidence and context shape the stories they encounter, without being told what to think.

What we cover

We look at the parts of news that are easy to skim past: the claim inside a headline, the role of a quoted source, the boundary around a story and the difference between evidence and interpretation. Our subjects are evergreen reading skills, not a running verdict on today's news.

Who it is for

The publication is for anyone who reads news and wants a more deliberate way to make sense of it. You need no specialist vocabulary or newsroom experience. The aim is to offer clear distinctions and useful questions that readers can carry into their own reading.

Our approach

We take apart examples as a reader might take apart a small puzzle: notice the pieces, ask what each one can support and see what is still missing. We explain uncertainty plainly and avoid treating a single clue as proof of a larger conclusion.

Our point of view

Curiosity beats the first impression

News reading gets more rewarding when we pause over the choices on the page. We look for clues, test our assumptions and stay open to what we do not yet know.
